I was driving down the road in my wife’s car the other day listening to the radio. Now Carolyn listens to more christian music than me on a whole. I tend to like everything pretty much. Well this song was playing, amazing grace. Now if you are reading this and you are a christian then you already know the lyrics or should haha. However it wasn’t sang the way I had heard it many times. It was sang by a different artist than I had heard before and some words had been added. This caused my ear to tune in to what the artist was saying . The next thing you know the words have my heart listening.
Its worth mentioning at this point that when I write it is for a particular audience. Let me clarify. I write that someone out there that reads this might be set free from whatever bondage or sin has enveloped your life and you would live your life on earth in freedom from sin and death. You might not even know who God is. You might be a christian struggling against sin in your life and need someone to love and understand you. I understand and so does God. I share what I either I find from my reading or whatever God has me to share. If you read this today and need someone to talk to or share with then leave me a comment and we can arrange to talk.
My purpose is to be obedient to God. To make disciples that are leaders for Christ and to see you live a life filled with freedom, joy and peace. We all struggle daily in this body and on this earth. I have not arrived to perfection yet nor am I abel to overcome sin on my own. With that said It is my hope that whoever reads this post will know that I am much just like you are. Walking along on this earth on a journey. Mine is different than some of yours. I am sixty years old and have had time to make many mistakes and live through many trials. What I have is wisdom from God given to me to share with others. Through faith in God lived out by my many failures and trials I have found freedom and have learned to trust God that He will be faithful to me and do what his word says he will do.
For sometime now I have been very focused on words and what they are saying. The words you write and share. The words others speak to me and I hear. Most importantly the words of God that inspired so many to write his Holy word. What are these people saying to me. What is God telling me through his words and promises. Are they true? Are they making a difference in mine and others life’s? For those that don’t know God yet. Yes they do make a difference for in times of trouble and turmoil all mankind calls to My heavenly father. This is because He is calling them to call out to him. So that he can help.
I would like to share this song with you. Please read and think upon the words of this song. In them is your freedom from bondage and sin. There is a lot of rich history behind the original writer of this song for you that are interested take the time and research it. For you that just need relief and love today. Read it carefully. With much love and all my love for you.
“Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)”
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believedMy chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
[2x]
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
Will be forever mine.
You are forever mine.
Bub, we sing this song at church all the time. I love it. Good word! Love you
