Exodus 34:6-7New Living Translation (NLT)
6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,
“Yahweh! The Lord!
The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.
I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
But I do not excuse the guilty.
I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren;
the entire family is affected—
even children in the third and fourth generations.”
Many people think God of the old testament is a God of wrath,only to be feared. These words from God reveled to Moses the very heart and essence of God”s nature. What do we learn from these assurances to Moses? God is merciful,gracious,loving,forgiving. Don’t accept anyones argument that the God of the old testament is merely vengeful. Instead, remember that “God is slow to anger,” and his love cannot be diminished.

You know Abbie, I just mentioned in my Sunday school class today how the punishment for our sins and even God’s wrath is still his love for us as much as all the attributes of his character we like so much more. I try to remember that it is not God that is not in harmony, but me. My sin and rebellion is a clear indication I am out of harmony with God. God will not allow his children to stray to far without chastising and punishing them. This is his unfailing love for us. When we say make me like you Lord. You can bet we are fixing to have some difficult situations arise. That usually will be in the way of area’s where we are the weakest. That is God’s amazing love and answer to our prayers. The greatest thing is he is with us all the way.

You know that is so true. We get a life time of the Holy Spirit they got the years with Jesus. Just think how much more we can have of Jesus now. Amazing.
